New Demo and Steam Version Released

We have released a new demo that comes with many of the new features we have added to the early access version recently. The most important update is that Tuto has been completely reworked and now comes with more buildings, new goals and a much better story presentation. In addition we have unlocked the Free Play mode on Tuto so demo testers can play without time and growth limitations. The Demo is available for download on this website and on Steam. just like the Early Access Version.

Planet Rounos

Read all about the latest Mission on Rounos, the Natives, Alien Investors, Hostile Colonies, Ideon Crystals, Riots, Wild Fires and the 8 new Constructs the Planet has to offer here…

Production Chain

Influences between constructs aren’t new in Imagine Earth but the tactical importance is raised with the latest update. Buildings are forming production chains which are increasing the value of strategic placement. Here you see a forestry delivering to a factory that is filling the warehouse that itself does supply the mall … just as an example.

The Mission on Planet Rounos

The Update version 0.7.0 of Imagine Earth to Steam takes you to a new world called Rounos. Here is all about it

  1. Planet 4 “Rounos” with the next mission of the campaign
    • AI controls
First competing colony that must be challenged in growth.
    • Alien investors
take over the company and aggravate internal competition.
  2. City names
(as promised in the crowdfunding campaign) Cities get a random name from a list of funders. You can name them afterwards to your own likings.ImagineWow
  3. New buildings
    • Solar park
makes good use of the useless desert fields. That are growing in times of climate crisis.
    • Financial district
Controlling the money system and new financial products boost your income from the colonies but it lowers the lifequality and mood of your people and might at some point provoke riots in exploited districts.
    • Watchtower
The watchtower claims a new piece of land to build like the buoy station does on water. It’s a construction of dominance you can take land of a competitor and increase the claim on your own land, so it is no longer easily invaded.
    • Mine
The mine exploit a fossile resource field and generates goods from it. It is also able to supply three surrounding constructs with resources to raise their productivity.
    • Forestry
The forestry generates goods from cropping forests. You should place it next to the woods to get production plus. In future the Factory will depend on Forestry, Mine and Recycling Park for raw materials to raise it’s production.
  4. New world elements

    • Crystals
Ideon crystals are rare and costly you may find a few on planet Rounos and can sell them for enormous amounts of money or directly for development coins.
    • Boss ship
From this planet on the boss will have his own ship, that enters the orbit. It will be his base from where is giving you additional orders and side quests.
    • Native camp
The natives of Rounos will not be in the mood to share their land for free. You will have to negotiate and they will want to have your precious industrial goods in return.
  5. Enhanced research system
You can now use your coins to level up the tools in the research menu. Each has 2 Levels that will increase individual effects or add new unique aspects to them.
  6. New tools
    • Disable buildings (to save resources)
    • Relocate buildings
  7.  New World Elements
    • Wildfires
Are spreading with the winds deriction from district to forest and other buildings. Can be a result of incidents, explosion, dry lands and riots…
    • Riots
if you beset natives too much or crop their woods. They start riots and burn down your nearby buildings.
    • Tree Stumps
From now on cropped forests will end up in a field of stumps. If you do not stop harvesting them early enough. These will take a long time to regrow. Burned Forests will regrow faster because the ash works like fertilizer.
  8. Gui enhancements
    • Options within main menu
    • New savegame menu (number of savegames is no longer limited)
    • Colorful highlight of player regions in navigation mode
    • #RL: Founded a company (previously we have been a partnership)

Steam: New building and Lorian 2.0

Phew!

We just released an update to the early access version of Imagine Earth on Steam.
And this is what’s new:

2014-06-15_ImagineEarth_ParkDistrict

We have a brand new building called “Park district”. It has extensive park areas and houses 25,000 inhabitants AND improves the quality of life for neighbouring districts. Upgrades are “Urban gardening” and “Green facades”.

The park district is made available on Joma at 600k people.

Lorian 2.0

Parallel to creating the new mission “Rounos” we put a lot of work in enhancing the Lorian mission. Here are the details:

  • The 4 capturable buildings are shown in navigation mode
  • “Quest” icon triggers side quests (e.g. “slick bay”)
  • Fixed a lot of small bugs in the meteorite logic
  • Most meteorites are now dropped on random locations outside and inside the players area
  • Laser cannon quest is explained better
  • End-sequence is more consistent and doesn’t start too early anymore
  • A serious number of other small things 😉

And then there were some general bugs to be fixed (e.g. F12 screenshots not working correct) and we improved the Toolring. Now it’s possible to hook a tool (repair, harvest, …) to the cursor by pressing it’s icon for a second. This will allow you to mass upgrade, repair, .. your buildings more easily.

That’s it. Now it’s time to play the early access version on steam and check out the new content.

Early Access Now!

We are really excited to let you know that we have published the early access version of Imagine Earth on steam – just in time.

Here is the list of new features:

  • Episode II: Lorian. This is one monster of a mission. Featuring a 4 times bigger planet than Joma was, with enough space for multiple cities and several million people.
  • New research system: Fulfilled mission goals are rewarded with stars that can be used to unlock new tools and technologies.
  • Meteorite strikes – beautiful until they hit you.
  • New buildings and world elements: Mountains, Research District, Nuclear Power Plant, Oil Platform, Fishery, Buoy Station, Organic Farm and Recycling Factory.
  • Loads of small gameplay changes and balancing.
  • New graphic style – we decided to replace the outlines with dynamic shadows and more atmospheric day and night lighting.
  • Free Play mode for Tuto, Joma and Lorian.

planetarian_view_imagine_earth

If you would like to play the new version of Imagine Earth you can try the updated demo which now contains the full mission Joma.

If you want to go a step further and play Lorian, you can get the early access on steam and support the further development of Imagine Earth. We will update this version every two month with new content until the planned release of the final version in December.

Some of you told us that they missed the crowdfunding and would like to name a city or have their names in the top 10. Have a look at the “Support Imagine Earth” store if this is true for you.

We hope you have a lot of fun with this version and would love to hear your feedback and see screenshots of the best and worst situations you experience.
